I also had a number of problems with Norton, and their parent company.

A number of products were suggested to me by either someone on this list, or
someone I dealt with via ebay. The suggestions included what Asa Jay
already listed. (and have free versions, AVG, Ad-Aware, SuperAntiSpyware)
And SpywareBlaster.

AVG has a feature that will scan all incoming and out-going e-mail.
You see the footnote occasionally on Forum members posts.

These free yet valuable products have worked well, trapping a number of
"issues". Only once has there been a "false-positive", and that is when
someone with a MAC (Mike Drew) sent a large file with corrupted header info,
which itself is a common virus-like symptom.

So if I have anything to add, it is "Ditto" to Asa Jay. (plus
SpywareBlaster)

I personally, no longer recommend Norton Products, after crashing my
own system doing a 360 install/uninstall and having at least two other
clients crash systems after upgrading to 360. Norton is extremely
bloated and takes up a lot of system resources, ties up too much, is
difficult to configure for the lay-person, I could go on.

Anti-Virus = AVG Free
Anti-Spyware = Counterspy, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware,
SuperAntiSpyware
Firewall = Zone Alarm
