Did someone shorten the dip stick housing where it extends into the block?
>From the flange on the dip stick housing, mine extends 9 3/4" into the block
and it's a force fit. I use an O ring to seal it to the block.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Dip Stick Tube Leak Solutions??

I think I've tracked down the oil leak in my freshly rebuilt Cleveland to
the dip stick tube popping out of the hole in the block. It looks like it
was RTVed into place, but that didn't hold. Besides seating into the block,
my tube only has one secure mount to a valve cover mounting bolt (not sure
if that's common or not??) and it just doesn't seem to make the distal end
of the tube stay in place.
Any suggestions??? Ideas???
When the tube comes out of the block, it makes a BIG OILY MESS and I don't
like it.
