I had a girl Friend that bought one of the Daihatsu Charade (not DeTomaso) pretty good MPG for the day. (Three cylinders) Boy, talk about cheep little car? The trans. crapped out around 40 thousand miles, and it cost more to fix then the car was worth! Sometimes you get what you paid for!

That's not a De Tomaso Mini. That's a De Tomaso-edition Daihatsu Charade,
which came later. They were built in Japan, and were basically a factory
hot-rodded edition of the standard car, fitted with nice wheels, better seats,
more power, bigger brakes etc. etc. and then festooned with De Tomaso badges.

Neat cars. One of the UK De Tomaso club members recently bought one for
about 1000 GP pounds.

Mike
