[DeTomaso] Grounding Circuit Recommendations

Actually in my case, I'm using an MSD billet distributor with an MSD6AL
ignition box. The reluctor in the distributor doesn't use the engine block
ground and neither does my MSD6AL which takes it's ground from the firewall.
So the 1V starter voltage loss I used to have with the stock ZF ground strap
didn't affect the voltage at the ignition. The engine block voltage was
merely 1V higher than the firewall voltage during cranking. Now if I'd been
using a points type distributor, it would have been a different story.

Bill, Ignition voltage of 8 volts during cranking doesn't cut it. I think
the MSD tech said their distributor won't work below 11.5 volts or above 14
volts. Scott

 Great input.

1 volt lost in the ground strap during cranking (when the battery terminal
voltage will be around 9 volts) is a very significant loss. Under these
conditions, the starter motor, and ignition, would only have about 8 volts
applied.
