[DeTomaso] Cubic inches to cost cubic money?

It's always about the money!

GA is also trying to control the title loan business, a recent example
was a woman who's late model Ford truck was repossessed, it had an
outstanding balance of $520.00 left on the loan with mafia terms, she
had already paid back 2x the original principal in less than a year,
they took the truck and sold it for 14K and kept the difference.

The new law states that they must refund any difference collected, all
they we do is sell the vehicles for loan face value to a front guy
who will then sell the vehicle at market value, collect 10% for his
trouble and give the balance back to the crooks.

One of the worst lives in Savannah, a few title pawn stores and the
guy flys around in a new Gulfstream G-V.

So many horror stories,.

The only legislation that is needed is a nationwide limit on interest
rates, that would remove some of the crooks, the others would be
forced to really examine creditworthiness of applicants and we
wouldn't be in this housing mess because a few assholes gave loans to
people who obviously could never pay them back.

The whole housing thing was fed off of greed by speculators who ( how
can you be this stupid ) thought that house prices would continue to
escalate while income levels didn't rise at the same rate, it was a
system out of balance ( and here's the Pantera content ) just like
some of these guys who build Monster motors and have amazing speed but
pay no attention to brakes or the suspension, it has to be a complete
package,.., Anybody dumb enough to bet on people with a household
income of 75K or less owning a 750K house is an absolute fool and the
people that gave them the loan should be jailed as well, it's obvious
they had foreclosures as an integral part of the business model, same
goes for investors who are stupid enough to buy stock in a business
that would do that. Basically folks, in the end, you get what you
deserve but it shouldn't cost everybody else in the process.

Just like these 0% for 6 month credit card offers, they only make
since if you know that 50% of the people will be late or miss a
payment and their interest rate will shoot up past the normal 7.99% to
the penalty levels in the 20% range. If you are going to play that
game, you have to be ready to move it around and pay attention.

My wife has become a Dave Ramsey devotee, sorry that I turned her own
to him, she is the sensible one in the family ( Honda CRV )

Her goal is to save everything and apparently leave an estate to be
fought over, mine is to live debt free (getting there) and have enough
income to provide a comfortable living and have a few toys along the
way, surely as the years pass, we will meet in the middle.

Meanwhile, Power + Brakes + Suspension equals a fun ride that if well
taken care of is also a pretty good investment and a heck of a lot
more fun to play with than a CD or a average mutual fund.

If they wanted us to drive smaller 'cube cars..they should give us tax credits for owning a small motored car. We all know that most of us don't use our cars for daily use. Do you think they would consider that fact..NO! Hell, just putting a tax on gasoline punishs' the largest consumers. This country has enough laws and regulations already. They were debating the Payday Loan business in south carolina last week. One of the legislators said "either let them do it, or stop it" There is no way to clean it up, as it is predatory. I'm glad the bill failed.
