Big Bend Open Road Race Back on for April 2/26/08

Ft. Stockton, Texas - Just one week after the Big Bend road race was
cancelled indefinitely.

Race organizer Kenda Furman said: "Everybody needs to mark their calendars
for April 23rd through the 26th for the Big Bend Open Road Race is on go."

Race officials hammered out an agreement behind closed doors

Board Chairman Judge Leo Smith said: "In the spirit of community
togetherness and trying to make this deal work everything is forgiven, let's
go, let's have a good time and let's have a race."

Organizers who resigned just days ago worked out their differences and
jumped back on board.

The communities of Ft. Stockton and Sanderson say they stand united to get
the race back on the road.

Ft. Stockton Mayor Ruben Falcon said: "The city stands we want this race
back on. We're willing to go on and do the same as always which is if they
need support they can get it from our convention of visitors bureau that's
financial support."

Now it's just a matter of hitting the April deadline.

Furman said: "There is a lot of work in front of us in the next 2 months."

The Big Bend Road Race is accepting applications for the April 23 race. For
more information call 432-336-3331 Ext. 239 during normal business hours.
