Ah,its Al"pantera kid"Bloombergs worlds fastest pushbutton.If i remember
right ,it had a red color back in 2003, when he was on Bonneville together
with the panterateam from Sweden, who managed a new top speed record for the
pantera 219 MPH/353 KMH !The old record was back from 1988,when Mike Cook
reached 202 MPH in his pantera.IMHO limegreen is definately not a color for
those feeling uncomfortable with some attention :)

Best regards from
Øyvind

Well,it could be that the black color listed,is the one used on the deck
lids and sides of the GTS cars.I think many panteras have received a new
color one or more times in their life. How many limegreen panteras are there
left,or brown(bronze) with black lids like our #6383 GTS were painted
orginally!?

Thanks Mark. Now that I finally added a car to the Registry, I really do
need to take the full tour. I wonder why I waited so long! How foolish!

>From what I remember, there were no "black body" cars until well after
>the
1974 end of Ford participation. As you saw from the paint code page, GTS
Black only refers to the hood/rear deck color, not the whole car.

But I would like to hear from Peter Havlik, and Mike Drew on exactly WHEN
the Factory started painting a (Whole-Body) black car. So my initial
comments, below, still stand.

I know my car was black at one time, but that was over original RED.

Chuck, there is a lot of information about paint codes and other Pantera
info on the ProvaMo site. You ought to check it out. :->)

Kjetil,

I believe Tom Tjaarda is referring to the initial production.
Black was not a Factory color until well after 1974.
(After some 6,000 cars were produced.)

I believe (factory) black was not available until the "wide-body" cars, and
those that were black had no rocker paint as described previously.

Mike, Peter, et al; when did black first appear?
1980?

(Yes I know someone with $$$ could commission a black car at any time.)

Chuck

Quote:
"...Concerning the painting which we used on the first Pantera prototype and

the production cars, the rocker panel was painted a matte black as was the
front lower radiator intake (but not the bodywork) and a small srip below
the
rear radiator grill. Personally I cannot remember seeing any Pantera
delivered
in one solid color without at least the rocker panel being the matte black
color except when they put on the wheel flares and miniskirts. The one
solid
color does in fact make the car look shorter and taller, and alters the
'classic' Pantera look.

Not to be a smart ass, but what about the black cars. Didn't DeTomaso
deliver any Pantera's in black? Was the black cars delivered with two tones
off black? Also it would probably look funny with a different colour on the
rocker panels on a black car.

Best Regards
