Kjetil,

I believe Tom Tjaarda is referring to the initial production.
Black was not a Factory color until well after 1974.
(After some 6,000 cars were produced.)

I believe (factory) black was not available until the "wide-body" cars, and
those that were black had no rocker paint as described previously.

Mike, Peter, et al; when did black first appear?
1980?

(Yes I know someone with $$$ could commission a black car at any time.)

Quote:
"...Concerning the painting which we used on the first Pantera prototype and

the production cars, the rocker panel was painted a matte black as was the
front lower radiator intake (but not the bodywork) and a small srip below
the
rear radiator grill. Personally I cannot remember seeing any Pantera
delivered
in one solid color without at least the rocker panel being the matte black
color except when they put on the wheel flares and miniskirts. The one
solid
color does in fact make the car look shorter and taller, and alters the
'classic' Pantera look.

Not to be a smart ass, but what about the black cars. Didn't DeTomaso
deliver any Pantera's in black? Was the black cars delivered with two tones
off black? Also it would probably look funny with a different colour on the
rocker panels on a black car.

Best Regards
