[DeTomaso] Pantera Wanabee Question

Dear Jerry,

I remember when I went to buy a mini (one of the original ones) and found, even with the seat all the way back and with a non-standard, smaller steering wheel, there was no way in you-know-where I was going to fit, I was really disappointed. I am 6' 2" tall, and most of that is in my legs.

When I sat in my first Pantera, it had non-stock, re-covered seats and my head hit the ceiling in a most uncomfortable way. I thought I'd have to drop the floor pans on any Pantera I might someday own. However, when I finally found the Pantera of my Dreams, it also had after-market seats, but for some reason I fit just fine in this one. Granted, if I ever have to wear a helmet I'll have to scrunch down in the seat, I think, but for normal driving it works great.

If you do find out your head hits the ceiling, there are floor pan drop kits available (although they aren't cheap), and some folks have modified their seats somehow to make them lower.

Truth be told, if I had REALLY wanted a mini, I would have found a way to make it work. What I really wanted was a Pantera and my subconscious knew it all along...!

Sincerely,

Chris

However the first question I always ask before buying a car is....Do I fit? Being 6'5" and 230 can be very limiting. So, does a big guy stand a chance of fitting into an Italian car without graduating from an advanced yoga program? Many thanks.
