[DeTomaso] Zinc question

That's good.

Hey, I went to that oilguy website but couldn't find anything about how much of the EOL stuff I bought to add to my oil. I got two 16 ounce bottles--do you think it would cause any harm to add one bottle per oil change?
I have an oversized oil pan.

Thanks,

Chris

The latest formulations of Diesel-Gas oil have less ZDDP than the previous ones because of new requirement from the government. But they still have about what gas-engine oils used to have, so they are OK for engines like ours.

Thanks, I will go to that website. I heard that Shell Rotella might be changing

for the worse, soon, however.

Sincerely,

Chris

Go to bobistheoilguy.com and do a search for EOS- this was discussed in the

past and it will say how much you should add per quart or whatever.

But if you just use Rotella, Delvac, or one of the other oils approved for

diesel and gas engines you won't have to worry about it because they still have

enough zinc (ZDDP).

They did drop EOS (Engine Oil Supplement) for a while last year. It was

recently reinstated under a new part number, 88862586. It is no longer

labeled Engine Oil Supplement. It's now called EOS Assembly Lubricant.

"Specifically formulated as an engine assembly lubricant E.O.S. provides

outstanding protection against run-in wear and piston scuffing as well as

run-in camshaft lobe and lifter scuffing resulting from insufficient

lubrication."

The label is a cover-yer-ass statement to keep them from being sued by the

govt for selling something that slowly poisons cataytic converters. For your

cat-less Pantera, don't worry about it. Except to remember that EOS may not

be

available forever so if it works for you, stock up now. The next stage is

usually to drop a product for 'poor sales'.... like R-12 freon. FWIW- J
