[DeTomaso] QZF Ratios - was Rare De Tomaso Parts?

I notice the QZF has a 3.75 final drive ratio: doesn't the Pantera use a
4.22? I'd think that with the .742 fifth would make for some lower cruising
RPM's, but how do the first/second and final ratios compare for off-the-line
pull?

Chris Melia in the UK is the guy behind this (driven by lack of ZF
availability for GT40's) he has formed GT Transmissions Ltd. Here's a link
to Quaife's web page;

http://www.quaife.co.uk/Quaife-Q-Tek-Z-5-Speed-H-Pattern-Transaxle

According to Chris the current ZFQ is rated to 600HP and 550 ft/lbs torque.
A number are racing in relpica GT40's as test mules. The new dog engagement
version will be rated for higher HP/torque but will carry additional cost.

As an aside GT Transmissions/Quaife have also just announced that dog
engagement and straight cut gear versions will be available in 2009 for
track/competition use. That makes a sequential change option a viability.
Maybe we'll see some ZFQ's in Pantera's before too long.Wonder if Quaife
also inclues their Torsen-type LSD in the ZFQs? Better than the clutch-type
LSD in ZFs and low friction so it doesn't heat the lube= less need for diff
coolers. Curious- J Deryke**************One site keeps you connected to all
