FWIW, I recently measured the thickness on the floor pans on my '74 and OEM was equivalent of 18 gauge. I couldn't warrant spending $300 a side for drop floor pans so I purchased a 4' x 10' sheet of 18GA for $80 and fabricated my own. In general I'd say the panels are 18-20GA.
 What is the gauge of the metal used on the outer panels of our cars?Will
