I have the Weiand aluminum water pump on my car and it's been great.  No cooling
problems whatsoever. Granted I haven't maintained high speed cruising (+120mph) for more
than a couple minutes at a time, but I have cruised for hours at +90mph with no
overheating problems. I've also had no problems with the Weiand pump sitting in stop and
go traffic in 100-degree weather. My car consistenly runs at 180-degrees with a 180-degree
thermostat.

The Weiand water pump is a high quality casting. It's also the pump that PI Motorsports
sells. The fact that it doesn't have a bypass means that you can run a regular Windsor
thermostat too. As far as the disc/plate on the back of the impeller blades, Summit used to
sell a Flow Kooler discs that could be riveted to the impeller of any manufacturer's pump,
but I haven't seen them listed lately.  My concern with adding such a disc was that if it was
not perfectly centered on the impeller it would create an out of balance condition which
could lead to premature bearing/seal failure.
