[DeTomaso] Nevada Open Road Race Hotel Reservations - 146 Days

Yo My Peeps,

We are 146 days out to the Nevada Open Road Race in May. . .Less then that if you are planning to go to Fort Stockton for the Texas Big Bend event. Get your hotel reservations in now...you can always cancel later.

Hotel space is already full at the Hotel Nevada and the Ramada Inn in Ely. Plenty of other smaller motels in Ely are still available but you need to get your reservations in pronto because they expect about a 30% increase in entrys.  

Mike and Marsha Borders of MKM Racing that took over Roger Ward's open road race events at the Pony Express are sitting out not only the 2009 season but also not putting on the Gambler's Run in Elko or the Bonneville 100 in Wendover Nevada.  

MKM and its sponsors lost money last year and expect a down turn in participation next year due to the economy so they are bailing out for at least 2009 but hope to be back in 2010. That is sad news for the open road race faithful.

But the great news is the remaining Nevada, Texas and Nebraska organizers are expected to pick up additional entrys....maybe there is a lesson to be had there for Big 3 automakers. 

If this is the coming year that you have worked and labored for months or years to finally get your Pantera or Mangusta completed and entered in a real open road race or track event or 1 mile shoot out there is no better time to get it done. 

For the rest of you waxers and weekend ricky racers don't forget to charge your AC and sun visors.   ;-]>
