[DeTomaso] Shifters are not created equal

Glad you bring that up. The manual shows a small "cup" that the shifter ball sits in. Mine lacks any cup but has two walls that stop the ball in the front to back motion but not in the side to side motion.

I asked a few of the guys about this last year and was told that was normal. If you look at the wilkinson site it clearly shows a small cup that the ball sits in.

Do most of you have the cup or just the two walls that it rests between on only 2 sides-front and back?

Thanks

He cleaned it up, put in a new shifter handle (probably the same one you have that doesn't fit properly), plus he replaced the bronze? pads at the bottom that keep it good and tight. It isn't in the car yet, but it feels brand new.
