Sure could- Bob Glidden and his competitors did it all the time in the 
mid-70s. But most of this stuff really needs dyno-checking to see when you've gone 
'too far'. SVO/Yates heads come with 42-cc chambers that are not supposed to be 
used as-is. Instead, you're expected to grind the poo out of the chambers and 
ports to create what you need. Same for intake manifolds- the ones sold for 
those heads won't even bolt on without major alterations. Besides, much of the 
historical mods on 351Cs were done for drag racing, and acceleration contests 
are way-different than whats needed for track or the street. Realistically, 
buying a set of late-model aluminum heads will give far more performance than 
anything you're likely to grind into 4-decade-old castings, with the extra 
benefits of losing 45-50 lbs off the engine weight, and gaining much better cooling 
from revised internal water passages in aluminum. However, hot-rodding is all
