Actually the Ford CEO said he would work for a dollar a year until things improved if they get bail out support. Dan.

The unfortunate reality is that it took better Japanese cars to make Detroit
build better cars, which they now do. We are caught between a rock and a hard
place. Buy only American, and quality and innovation may largely disappear.
Buy only foreign, and we all loose our jobs. I don't see a simple
solution. Maybe import taxes to adjust for cheap foreign labor and tax
breaks/support from foreign governments?

All,

When I became a Union member 24 years ago, I learned the history of Unions and
the American Worker. Not really taught to you in school, and surely not
honestly
told to you by media run by Big Business.

Remember that old child song...foot bone's connected to the ankle bone, the
ankle
bone's connected to the shin bone...ETC?

Well, our economy is the same way. It is all inner-connected. YOUR job IS
dependent
on other jobs, and often the connection is not very readily visible.

I made the vow, pledge, promise that I'd try to Buy American when I had the
chance.

I'm not a fanatic about it. I buy at Harbor Freight, I have foreign stuff
through out the
house. 100% American just can't be done anymore.

BUT we all make two VERY large purchases during our lifetimes. Our homes, and
our vehicles. I vowed to NEVER own a foreign car. When I went shopping for a
new vehicle, I would only visit the Big Three.?

Now imagine if everyone had been doing that for the last 24 years?

Proud Americans buy American. Period. End of discussion.

Larry

And as for all your expected quality/price/style comments, like a previous post
mentioned, our Asian neighbors understand buying home-made may not always
be cheapest, however it sure is more Patriotic.
