[DeTomaso] NPC: Question about car buying on eBay

Ebay used to offer an escrow service, where you agreed terms with the seller and the money was held in a third party account until the car was delivered. They certainly never inspected anything and I think it was more a case of 'confirmed delivery' to release the funds, not a 100 point check list.

Ebay now recommends www.Escrow.com, which low and behold like Paypal is 100% owned by Ebay and (like Paypal) the distinction just puts more smoke and mirrors in the way of actually filing a claim.

BEWARE!!!?Ebay's buyer protection programs do NOT provide any kind of escrow services. They are to help you remedy a COMPLETED transaction that didn't meet your expectations.? ?AND, scammers copy text and graphics from these pages to send you official-looking emails to lure you into sending money.?BUT, THERE IS NO CAR !!!??? These scams are designed to lure you into parting with your money, often under the false imprsession that you haven't parted with it yet.??+++ Original Message +++This is the Vehicle Protection Program Page:http://pages.motors.ebay.com/buy/purchase-protection/index.htmlThe other auto protection they offer is listed here:http://pages.motors.ebay.com/buy/condition-guarantee/index.htmlNeither say anything about an escrow/inspection service. You could always send his email to ebay and see what they say.
