 Yup. agreed on the double
clamping. Jaime and I have some fuel injection hose over smooth tubing
on the Monster Miata. The injection lines are under considerable
pressure, but they're double clamped, and have never budged.

You can bend the pipes IF you use a tubing bender tool. Most any  auto store 
or home repair store sells tubing benders. They come in sizes to fit  
different diameter tubes. If you try to bend it without a tubing bender, you  
will 
kink the pipe instead.
 
Thomas gives good advice. If you slip enough hose on the tube  so you can use 
two hose clamps, you will be doubly OK.
