[DeTomaso] 2009 Fun Rally Location

Back in the day when I was POCA prez we put out a survey of what members wanted to go to or see, spend,  do, etc.
   
  On the LOCATION point the overwelming majority wanted to keep the Fun Rally right where it was in Vegas with the majority opting for April dates. And in all fairness it was really a Fun Rally put on and supported by Kent and Sandi and it has been the only revenue producer for POCA coffers...but we still got about 75 members who wanted a different venue and hotel.
   
  Having said that we got about half a dozen folks (I won't say their names ;-) who said they would be glad to host the Rally or convention in a city near their homes...Some suggested locations were Road America, Monterey, Reno, San Francisco, Houston, New Orleans, Pocono, etc. the Board encouraged any and all to propose any other location. In the subsequent months as I recall NO ONE but Jim Nowlin offered the board a proposal for a new event. 
   
  For those at the time who said "I will NEVER return to the Plaza" (maybe 25 said that in their survey) we reserved 35 rooms at MGM Grand.....By the middle of March only 7 rooms had been taken....at the time the Plaza was the best bargain in town and the majority of our membership did NOT want to spend more money....Mikey or Kent  can chime in here but I think for years the 4-day Rally hotel and POCA cost was like $250 bucks or something equally cheap.
   
  I like the idea of a earlier or later Vegas event (assuming we can find a hotel large enough to support us and one cheap ass Pantera owners can afford ;-)))))
