[DeTomaso] The future of Concorso Italiano (was: NY Times article)

Hi Joel,

I have not attended Concorso for a few years, as my interests are more
track-oriented than show-oriented.  

I am sorry that Concorso did not work out for you.  I have heard from a
number of attendees that the organizers did the best they could with
what they had at the airport venue but that it was too little, too late.
The general consensus is that if Concorso is held at the airport again
next year, it will be the end of the event.

Concorso has a five-year contract at the airport.

The good news is that there is a concerted effort by a new group working
to create an event similar to what Concorso was in the old days --
non-profit, club-oriented.  I am on the board of directors of that
group.  We are very early in the process, so I cannot say much about it.
I will report back when we have something more substantial to discuss.
