The difference is 303 miles from Denver.  That is about 16 gallons more gas in a Pantera, assuming 18 MPG highway.  At around $4 per gallon premium, it works out to $64 which is about what you would save in hotel room costs by going to Reno.

According to Verizon's coverage map, you have solid, digital coverage all the way from Denver to Reno.  Of course, with cell phones -- your mileage may vary. :->)

Actually Reno is a bit further than 300 miles - its closer to 500, so figure 
that into your budget if you plan to drive.   And don't plan on using your 
cell phone much between the two places - you are out in the middle of nowhere so 
have your car in good running order!
