Wotz this 'us' sheit?

You ain't one of US BoBo....you are one of 'them'. ;-]>

You gotta earn the right to be a slacker by doing something in your life besides playing video games (don't tell me you  don't) and talking about how you  are gonna someday do something with your life or the Pantera...only then can you earn the right to be List Slacker.

Hey Rowdy,

You are a stud! Everyone loved you and Frank. I don't know if it was you growing up on the mean streets of Kansas City, driving moonshine or your adventures in Nam but it was a pleasure hangin with you buddy....And Frank and the Girls in Arnold were a blast. You definately can party with the team any day.

Okay, , here's the rest of the story!

The Pantera ran okay. On the second day dry running the road the clutch and/or pressure plate started to slip badly. Rowdy and Frank helped me readjust and bleed the system but it didn't make any difference. Then the otherwise okay just one year old clutch slave cyl started leaking. But who needs a stinking clutch? ;-]>

As Rowdy mentioned the SORC road in Nebraska is a hand full with grass shoulders, plenty of blind hills and off camber turns, dips and places to get into trouble with.

On the way out to Nebraska we stopped in Denver Colorado and spent the night with Tommy Gun and his old lady where Tom was replacing a engine for the Speedvision TV "PINKS". I don't know how Tommy Gun got it done but he pulled and replaced his pro stock Nova engine in a day and also was able to feed us and tell stories about growing up in New Orleans.

The next day we drove the last 500 or so miles into Arnold Nebraska. Driving through rain and some minor flooding. And driving 'back' to the left coast we spent last night (Monday) in Vegas partying at the old Plaza with friends and spent the night before just outside Vail Colorado at 10,000 feet sitting in a hot tub drinking Yukan Jack with the Brazilian Girls.... thinking back to Arnold and the Sand Hills ORRt it does not get any better then this last week was unless you are at Jim's Bar in Arnold eating chicken fried steak with bikers on their way home from Sturgis. ;-]>

Bob "Rowdy" Radefeld and Frank "Godfather" Cirrincione are true party Team Pantera Racing animals. Rowdy is also a Nam Vet and is a hoot to listen to. Rowdy is the hardest driving and hardest partying animal I have ever seen unless you compare him side by side to Curt D-Mann Toumanian! ;-]>

Rowdy just has had more years on D-Mann driving his Vette and Pantera in track events in and around Kansas....Tommy Gun and the Pope will have to step up they're game big time in 2009 if they want to run with Rowdy and the team next year in Nebraska.

It must of been growing up on the mean streets of Kansas City or drinking Saigon tea in Nam or driving those country moonshine roads in his '67 Olds 442 because Rowdy drove like a man obsessed in the SORC. When we went into Jim's Bar in Arnold Thursday night with the Girls I knew there was going to be trouble and of course there was.....Rowdy did not disappoint.

When he shut down Jim's bar that first night after 2 AM and we brought everyone back to the Hunting Lodge and he ran around with the stuffed dear head on his shoulders as Frank "Out of Control" Cirrincione pretended to be a matador I could only think, "these guys call me mad?!!! Wotz up with dat? ;-]>

Frank "The Godfather" Cirrincione was something else. He didn't talk much when we first met. Quess he was sizing me up. He's run the Pony Express before and has raced both his Pantera and a Porsche Carrera. Yea, Frank was quiet until you hear about him growing up working in a coal mine, kicking ass in the Navy or racing cars in Tennnessee.

Frank is one of those guys that you get uncomfortable wiith when he looks at you. Maybe its the Robert DeNiro tats on his arms and neck or maybe its just the way he growls "Sheeeeeit"....when he tells a story but even I felt a little intimidated by the guy. He is a hellva teammate though and also a wrench, fabricator, welder and heavy equipment operator though. I gotta figure out a way to get Frank to Sacramento to work on the fire house. He never went to high school or college but he did get his GED a couple years ago.

Anyway, Rowdy and Frank got into it friday night over WHO was going to kick the ass of the most obnoxious Viper driver at the SORC....he was the same guy who had "666" as a car number last year. After they had some words Frank 's new nickname became "Out-of-control" Cirrincione. . .The fact that Frank accidently pushed the Viper guy over a rail next to Jim's Bar when the guy made the mistake of falling against Frank's P-car didn';t help.

Then Frank got caught at the Awards dinner slapping TPR decals on the back of Corvettes and Vipers in the parking lot and got chased back to the lodge where Rowdy grabbed my shotgun scattering Vette and Viper people in all directions. He said he was just putting it back in the truck but no one believed him.... Like I said earlier "Out-of-Control" seemed like a better nickname then "Godfather"......by comparison I felt like a list slacker.

After the SORC Saturday we headed to the Awards banquet in town where all was going well until I heard Frank scream,

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THE PANTERA". . .

It was just a little kid admiring Frank's ride but who knows what that little kid who had a couple SORC ballons (who knows what was inside those ballons) but like I said who knows what that kid may have done if Frank had not scared him away. I was trying to mellow out after the SORC and be a good ambassader for POCA like JT Taphorn was in Texas a couple years ago and fend off bad feelings by the Corvette guys but unlike JT I did have Rowdy and Frank and the Brazilian Girls and it was a little different more humble crowd the rest of the night. I think it helped when Frank offered a gift card the to the Corvette Team if they would just promise to take off the polyester slacks, jackets and white shoes.....When I could see they didn't understand what we were talking about we just invited them to go back down the street to Jim's Bar and play some pool.

And that pretty much says how it went..... except I have to second what Rowdy has said earlier already about the folks of Arnold. They are the BEST race fans anywhere. Arnold Nebraska has a town of less then 600 people yet they host more then 500 racers in a town that has only one small motel. Which means they give up their homes to racers who come to town.

So in closing I'll just say it was a pleasure to represent our little dysfunctional group and enjoy a 3,100 mile road trip and get an opportunity to meet and hang with Rowdy and the Godfather...

Bob Radefeld wrote: Hello Guys & Gals,
Had a fantastic time at the SORC in Nebraska & all the
things you former participants of open road racing events
said about the fun factor is definitely true!! If I had the $$
and time to do them all I'd try to better the Dawgs' record
of 6-7 a year. MD, Godfather & I (along with three of the
Brazilian girls that Dawg brought) turned the little town of
Arnold upside down. All the other guys there - particularly
the Vette guys were jealous beyond belief when they saw
the girls helping to clean up our cars & blowing us kisses
at the start & finish lines!! By the time we were done we'd
been thrown out of every bar in town except one &
completely ran out of Team Pantera stickers before we had
run out of cars to stick them on - next year MD needs to
bring a bigger supply :<))) I was glad to hear that this is
the most challenging of the road races & now I can see
why. I'd have rather seen a smooth asphalt highway than
the rock strewn chip & seal type road we ran. Had to be
careful of loose rocks, etc. along the outsides of the curves
that had been thrown up by the faster class cars that went
before our class. All in all, it is a challenging road & a real
hoot to drive fast on!
The population of Arnold & some of the smaller towns
around that got involved in the 1/3,1/2, and 1 mile shoot-
outs all more than bent over backwards for all of us
racers. The hunting trailer we all stayed in was fully
stocked w/ food & anything else we needed when I arrived
& it was all donated to Team Pantera( & the Brazilian
girls) by its owner! Many of the other racers were put up in
the homes of the citizens of Arnold @ no cost. Friendliest
folks you'd ever want to meet & I think we must have met
them all during the course of our stay. This is a definite "Must Do" event for me again next year & I hope Tommy
Gun & The Pope can make it so we can form a team of
P-cars! I'll let MD elaborate more on our adventures in the
next few days when he hits home. Wouldn't want to leave
the Dawg with no stories to relate to all of you. :<)))
All for now!

Bob (Rowdy) Radefeld

PS: Newest member of Team Pantera & no longer
considered a slacker. :<))
