It is a shame that the car was so poorly designed.
The proportions were great, but the design theme choice and it's execution 
showed that the design was done by someone that was very inexperienced, for a 
client that lacked the knowledge and design appreciation to make a good choice. 
They thought it would be easy.

DeTomaso decided to save money with several cars that he directed himself. 
All were very poor.

It would be interesting to know who did the design but I doubt that they will 
step up to claim the credit.

In these cases often the company principles will hire someone that is very 
inexperienced and then use that persons skill to direct their own concept, as 
poor as it may be. There will be no one involved to argue with them about the 
design quality.

Nothing good happens easy.
