[DeTomaso] Mud flaps- Was Haven't seen the fake 4 cam covers for a while

That's just my opinion. I would be the first to appreciate if the gills were functional as I've gone through considerable effort to duct cool air from underneath the car to my air cleaner. The quarter window/gill area has a very high impact on how the car stands out when viewed straight from the side. If someone decides to remove that design element for his own pleasure, fine, but don't expect everyone to appreciate it. I could make a list of one-of-a kind modifications that I wouldn't want to see done to any car from a design perspective but in this case someone mentioned one specific mod and I responded. I don't see this much different than arguing for a 650 or 850 cfm carb on a 351C.

  OK,

Talk about slamming your own family, WTF are you people thinking?

I think we should fix the damn Lambo doors so they open correctly, rehinge the Muira Engine cover, put a grill in every Cobra so that road debris can't destroy the radiator, raise the roof on all GT40's ( too dam short for 6'0 driver ), shorten all the XKE hoods ( bonnets ) there is no reason they have to be that long, ditch the side vents on MB 300SL's and smooth out their shape, and we should all drive a Rover 3500 with a Buick V-8 and learn to like it, all of them white.

Like the speed lines on a Raymond Lowey designed Locomotive, the gills aren't there for anything other than decor, just like those dam stupid horses that can't seem to keep four feet on the ground or those snotty nosed bulls that charge ( right before the matador kills them )

they are indicative of speed, and anything else would ruin the car or probably if removed ruin the structural design of the car.

If you don't like one the most awesome angles of the car ( Tom T got it right ) the crouching rear, ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey, then sell your car and get a 1980 Jetta.

I think what we need is a grill with the same fins as the aluminum casting, but open on the back, a clear scoop over the fins to form an air scoop, and a backing that flairs into maybe a 3 inch round passage into the engine compartment. I think we can avoid altering the look which in my opinion can not be improved on, and get much needed ambient air to the engine.
