Mike, I certainly agree, ebay is not the perfect place to purchase a
Ferrari. However a friend of mine did purchase a late 80s Ferrari on ebay and spoke
to the seller before hand and the seller basically said to come look at the
car before paying for it, if he was the highest bidder. He did and ended up
buying the car, but checked it after the sale and before putting any money
out. He kept it for 2 years until he had a leak in the brake master and the
Ferrari mechanic said if he could find a new one it would be around $1500, but
he could not and had it rebuilt for $500 but it always leaked and he
eventually sold it through the local Ferrari mechanic with everyone aware of the brake
master problem. Don't ask about when his ignition tumbler came out.
