[DeTomaso] Header Repair

After buying a new set of 180's and not being happy with them, I spent double the money for a set of Byer's Bros 180's. Much nicer than the 1'st set (which I gave a way for a large loss), but these have deep clamp marks on the pipes from the bender clamps. They're too deep to grind smooth. Too much money for shipping/brokerage to return.
Before having them coated (which will magnify flaws), I need smooth out the imperfections. The only thing I can think of is filling the crevices with oxy/acet weld rod, then grinding smooth.
Opinions? Headers won't get hot enough to melt the weld, correct? Would brazing rod work?
