[DeTomaso] Chrysler TC by Maserati

Yes.

De Tomaso owned Maserati at the time, and was good buddies with Lee Iacocca 
from Lee's Ford days.   They negotiated this deal together.   Chrysler bought a 
minority holding in Maserati at the same time.   Maserati built the cars, and 
I think they were shipped minus drivetrain to the USA for completion.

The problem was, at the same time that Maserati was building this car, some 
other branch of Chrysler brought out a newly styled LeBaron that looked almost 
exactly the same, for half the price, with the same drivetrain.   It was a 
no-brainer, and the TC tanked immediately.
