Colin, after wrapping your new headers, try coating them with a solution of
'water-glass', also known as sodium silicate solution. In the U.S, its
available at drug stores ('chemists shops' to you) It's used to preserve eggs and
other materials and to repair leaking hot-water heaters. Racers use it to seal up
porous magnesium castings. It's a thickish solution that dries to a glass-like
compound that is insoluble in everything. Several coats might be necessary.
Its also inflexible, so over time, it may develop cracks just like thick
lacquer paint. Good luck- J DeRyke
