[DeTomaso] ceramic coat vs. wrap

There are several wraps in various thicknesses and everyone has their own 
application techniques, so comparisons are difficult. One negative thing wraps do 
is soak up rainwater and rust underneath unless coated themselves, and at 
least on turbo engines, so much heat is retained that it tends to destroy the 
wrapped metal pipe by crystallization over time. Coatings are usually done both 
inside & out so you not only retain some heat but gas flow is enhanced; Jet-Hot 
used to advertise up to 5% power increase and that was verified by a race 
team who dyno-ed their engine with the same pipes before & after coating. But the 
coating is necessarily thin being a sort of ceramic paint, so reductions in 
radiated heat should be less than with wraps. I'd go with Jet-Hot myself. FWIW-
