[DeTomaso] Heater Lines

I did with good results. Not because the tubes were leaking but I ran fuel hose that was rated to my satisfaction inside the old heater tubes. The first consideration would be to match the new hose to the connection on the heater and avoid the hassle of mis-match between the original tubes (18 mm) and the heater core (16 mm or 5/8" IIRC). Then the engine side (3/4" IIRC) won't fit but if you're running shut off valves you can do the conversion there using different size nipples. If you feel like going down in tube size it won't be a problem. Check out the heater core tubes leading to the heater valve. Anything larger than that is not very restrictive to flow. I'm using 8 mm ID (5/16") hose and have all the heat I need. They are a dream to route compared to the old hoses!
