[DeTomaso] Bigger-Better-Heavy Duty Shocks for Silver StateWOOPS - No Slacker Content

Just a word of caution on progressive rate springs - you may not like the
handling. And you may not know you don't like the handling until you really
stress the chassis and suspension.

If one end of the car or one side of the car is loaded more than the other,
which is always the case when accelerating, braking or cornering, then
overall handling characteristics could become increasingly unpredictable.
It would be similar to having springs that are too soft and then hitting the
bump stops on compression in the middle of a corner. The suspension will
very suddenly go from a linear, predictable spring rate to a much stiffer
one - at which point the car will typically try to twitch off in a different
direction than where you thought you had it pointed (don't ask how I know
this).

Do you really want to experiment with variable spring rates at 145 mph?

Exactly Mike....thanks.
Already working on it...Spoke to Eibach Spring folks as well as Bobby
Byers at Precision Pro-Formance.

  MD,

Have you considered getting a progressive-rate spring instead of a
straight-rate spring? That way it is compliant for the first few inches of
travel, but
then becomes much stiffer as the spring is compressed.

Mike
