Yes, you will find that the pedal will be slightly "spongier" with DOT5 so I
don't recommend it and some hydraulic seals don't like it either.  What I
use is Valvoline Synpower
http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=51.  It
was the highest rated of the "readily available" brake fluids in a test I
read a few years back.  Since it's both DOT3 & 4 compatible, you can use it
in almost any brake system and it's reasonably priced.

Are there any disadvantages of using DOT 5 brake fluid in the clutch master
cylinder? The reason I'm asking is that my clutch doesn't want to work well,
even after multiple attempts at bleeding it. I'm trying to weed out all the
cheap possibilities before I start spending money to correct it.
