[DeTomaso] DeTomaso Registry Contest

Doug, (and others),

If the submitter "Photoshops" the license plate to be unreadable, that is
acceptable. No plate, or an obscured plate occurs in about 1-3% of the
photos I'd guess.
I do not do that as a matter of procedure. (License plates
are naturally visible in public, so they are a matter of public record.)
However when I've gone to events to capture cars, I bring a general DeTomaso
license plate for this purpose. I think I got it from the guy that lives in
both Arizona and Idaho. Somebody help me with his name?!?!?
He occasionally sells or sold these plates in Vegas. I think some vendors
also have something like this. Check PI maybe.

If the owner selects the extra Privacy button, the database field for the
license plate is so marked, as are other fields. Right now, none of these
fields are available anyway, as I prefer the privacy of owners.

I checked your Registry entry, and you had not selected "Yes" for the
Privacy selection, so I have just updated your record to so reflect
"Privacy=Yes".

There are no photos of your car on it's Photo Page. Too bad as I could use
a good example of a stock 'blue' on the paint color examples page, if your
car has stock/original paint.

Are you ready to send in some photos?

Chuck,

Do you block out the license plate numbers of leave them readable?

Yes,

Just email photos. I "process" them (cut, crop, color adjust, compress,
size) as necessary, then add them to the photo page.

There are two parts to the Registry; the database, which holds the
information from the Registry form, while the photo page holds the photos,
details and description which does not fit into one of the database fields.

This free-flowing text typically includes build details, and ownership
history if supplied. In the case of some entries this information documents
upgrades, improvements, or accomplishments (like attending racing events).

It can be whatever the submitter supplies. For a number of entries the
information is from a "For Sale" advertisement. I intentionally do not edit
the ad for typos, misspellings or even claims. If a seller claims 900 rwhp
or that the car walks (runs) on water, I leave the text is "As Is".

I've been asked to include the sales price, but rarely do I learn that. If
supplied I'll post it, as that will help document the value of examples of
our Marque.

Hi Chuck,

That's great that you have built this up with so much information.

I was able to update my registration that I had entered a few months back
with new info, but I did not see any way to update the photos. How do we do
that? Just email them to you?

Mark

Due to ProvaMo.com being unavailable for a couple of days, I am extending
the contest to enter cars into the DeTomaso Registry until 9/20.

There are a few people that have enters a number of cars that are not
complete, and therefore would not

count in the contest. If you have submitted photos, but have not entered
the data, (or vice versa) now is your chance to correct that gap.

Kirby, Stephan Kurth, Peter, Dave and Doug are ones I remember.

The Registry has now well passed 700 entries, so I would like to thank
everyone that submitted even just one entry.

Chuck Melton
