[DeTomaso] wiper blades

My 74 wiper blades do not lock in the up position (away from the windshield). 
 I checked another 74 and it also does not lock away from the windshield. 
This makes them very difficult to get off and many words to get them back on.  
Does anyone have a gadget that will hold the wipers in the away position or a 
method to make them easy to get on and off?  I got tired of skinned fingers 
getting them on and off.
