I do note the alternate method... not using the “cool tool”… but unbolting
instead.

 

Perhaps the server update has not propagated far enough yet….

 

I’ll push it thru again…

 

 

When I did this job, the old shock just did not want to “depart”.  I had to
motivate it, as I wrote.

 

And the new shock was tough to get back in.  I had to trim the lower
bushing.  Sometimes the “easy” jobs are not.

 

Which is why I wrote down my experience in the first place…. to save the
next person from a trial and error experience.

Good point, and removing the 2 cross bolts does not require the Ball Joint
Tool.
 
But the Ball Joint Tool will not harm the ball joint.  Risk to the boot is
from using a “ball joint fork”
Or pickle fork...
Which is definitely NOT the way to go!



Yeah, but since you are one of only a handful of people who have the 'right'
tool, your guidance would tempt people who don't know any better to
accomplish the same thing with the 'wrong' tool.  Best to just change it to
show the easy/non-destructive way....
