Good work on the dip stick.

I was a Sox fan the last week too. There was an article in the Cleveland
paper after we lost the last game. It reported that the Boston fans lined up
at the exit giving the Indians high fives and applause as they went to the
bus. Class act!

In the course of doing my Windsor replacement... we came across a very nice
solution to 
the Windsor dip stick issue.  The Ford Windsor shipped with a straight tube
and stick that 
mounts right at the front of the engine in the timing cover, making access a
nuisance.
 
The solution is the dipstick and tube that came with the 1990 Ford Econoline
Vans that have
the 351W engine. It's been drawn to my attention that I said 1980 at the
meeting the other
night.  A classic brain fart when summoned to speak before a crowd on no
notice.  Please
accept my apologies.
 
Ford Motor Company part numbers: 
 
F2UZ-6750-B   dipstick
F5UZ-6754-B   tube
 
This combination curves back over the block, much like the Cleveland.  A
little extra bending
and a shortening of the tube and stick by about 6 inches leaves the handle
nicely positioned
at the rear of the block.  The shortening was done at the handle end, thus
requiring no 
modifications at the business end in the timing cover.

PS - Larry - Cleveland was the best team the Sox faced in the post
season...that was the 
real World Series...hopefully they will meet again next season...
