[DeTomaso] New Deck Lid Latch Help Please

My new deck lid latch arrived today, it does not fit my car despite my
thorough description to Hall Pantera.
This replacement style is for those original latch catches that look like
two washers with a bar welded between them that looks like mini dumb bells,
mine doesn't.
Mine looks like a flat plate with an angled U shaped 1/8 diameter rod
sticking out.  I even had photos posted to facilitate making this fool
proof, apparently it wasn't.

So now I can either make this work or start all over.  If I try to make it
work it looks like I'll need to install "nutserts" after drilling new holes
in the deck lid (and I assume, cutting off the threaded part that is
original to my car ) thus my need for help, there is no template,
could/would someone measure where these holes go so I can measure twice and
drill once and not screw it up?
