The pistons don't need to move very far. How much is "a limited amount"?
You could have a leak at the master, air in the line, or just poor old pads.
Assuming you already have nice, clean brake fluid and have bleed it well,
try popping in a new set of Porterfield pads.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Brake Caliper Question
The pistons in my original brake calipers, when removed from the rotor, but
with hydraulics attached , only move a limited amount. Could anything other
than corrosion in the caliper be limiting their movement ? Any suggestions
for repair. Braking power on the car is not great.
Thanks,
Hap
