[DeTomaso] Oil Pressure Problems

I'm going to ask stupid questions, so bear with me.

Were you able to turn the drive shaft on the pump?
Yes, then it's not being driven by the distributor gear as it should be,
must be broken.
No, then it may still be attached to the distributor gear, that's good.

Did you remove the pump and make sure it works?
Did you inspect the pickup screen?

Did you remove the oil filter and replace it?

Yes, pull the distributor and inspect the gear.

There is another plug, just above the fuel pump. It's large, something
like 3/8 if I remember. Get an adapter to fit that hole and your
mechanical gage and test again. That is a direct feed. If the smaller
feed to the sending unit is plugged, then this one should tell you.

If you aren't running synthetic, then don't run the engine anymore.
Get a pre-luber and pre-lube the engine with pressurized oil prior to
starting it again. If you indeed do -not- have oil pressure, each time
you start it, even for 10 seconds, you are putting hundreds of miles on
the engine, if not thousands.

Let us know what you find out.
