[DeTomaso] Minimum Idle Vacuum?

The stock cam pulls 21 inches, but I do not know what the minimum is for the
booster.
Some alternative ideas:
- You can use a vacuum reserve canister to help with low vacuum from your
new cam ($35-79 at Jegs part #555-63010)
- There are also electric vacuum pumps you can bolt up under the front
trunk, so you can just ignore the whole vacuum issue and get the cam you
really want.
- You can just run without a booster. Some people do and are OK with it.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Minimum Idle Vacuum?
I'm trying to fill out a cam questionnaire and it asks little idle
vacuum I will accept? How the heck do I know? I've seen numbers ranging
from 12-20 or 22 inches of mercury. My car is a street car, and I would
like to have it be able to idle at maybe 700-800 rpm? Of course I want this
408 stroker Cleveland to be fast but more importantly I want low to mid
range torque and throttle response. I see no reason to rev it over 6000
rpm. So, any ideas as to how much vacuum I need to operate those power
brakes?
Thanks,
Art
