Much more likely, you failed to properly bleed the air out of the system.   
The best radiator in the world won't work when it's pumping air and water 
instead of water (and antifreeze) alone.

Bleeding the system is an iterative process.   You will follow the procedure 
to the letter, be satisfied that you're getting nothing but coolant out the 
bleeder, then let it cool off overnight, do it again the next day and find tons 
more air coming out.
