<<< Jack has said that the Weiand 351C pump does away with the bypass warm-up circuit,
which would theoretically allow you to run a standard 351W thermostat instead of a 351C
unit, but I haven't actually confirmed that. >>>

Here's confirmation on my Weiand water pump:

The popular choices seem to be FlowKooler, Weiand, and Edelbrock water pumps.

  Edelbrock: approx. $166
The best according to many! I think the price has recently come down. It was quite a bit more when I priced it just over a year ago.

  FlowKooler: approx. $90
Used by several satisfied PCNC members. Has the backing plate on the impeller to reduce cavitation.

  Milodon: approx. $100
Don't know anything about the product quality.

  Weiand: approx. $136
Identical (same?) pump sold by PIM for $150 (member) or $160 (non-member). Double check the part number. Mine is the same. No backing plate on impeller. FlowKooler sells backing plate upgrade kits for $6. I didn't bother. No bypass, but can be modifed for bypass if you like. I have zero cooling problems in 100-degree weather stop and go traffic.

  Cheers!
  Garth
