I think you misunderstood my point. If all it needs is a "recharge" 
(less than $50 using R12 replacements), then that should be done. If, on 
the other hand the A/C doesn't work because of more serious problems 
(bad compressor, condenser, etc.) then off handedly saying it just needs 
a "recharge" without doing any diagnostics is misrepresenting the car IMHO.
