Actually, I had my MSD box rebuilt earlier this year and it was only about 
$35.   It really depends on what's wrong with it.

Did you mount your box on the rubber stand-off "feet"?   The box can NOT be 
directly mounted to the car, or the vibration will kill it.   They're fully 
waterproof, so water had nothing to do with your failure.   It's possible that 
the low battery state nuked it also.
