Here's a few pictures of the sensor and adapter.

The adapter has an allen set screw that secures it to the sensor.

The inner diameter of the adapter is 1.297", I forgot to take a picture
of that.

The two pictures showing the distance from the gear to the collar shows
the distance with the shaft at both extremes. The nominal distance is 4
1/32", or 4.031". I may have to adjust the adapter slightly to get at
that distance, which is simple. The gear must rest against appropriate
surface inside the block, while the shaft must not bind inside the sensor

The picture showing the sensor in the block is an old picture without
the adapter.

The gear on the adapter is the 3.8L gear, which seems very similar to a
5.0 gear. I will install a Crane steel gear compatible with my roller
cam, but I believe that I will not be able to remove the adapter once
the 351C gear is on.

Cheers,
Thomas
