The mystery Pantera is #9114, a 1979 Pantera GTS Helix belonging to
Daniel Weber of Switzerland. For more information, have a look at
Pantera International Magazine # 120, which has a three page article
on the car and its history. Basically, it was a collaboration between
DeTomaso and a Swiss auto dealer named Fausch. It was built on a 1979
GTS chassis, but never received an engine or transmission. The
rolling prototype was finished and shown at the Essen Motor show in
1987. It then dropped out of site until 1998, when it was
rediscovered in Switzerland in very poor condition. It had not been
driven, just left to sit and rust away. Daniel Weber acquired it in
1999, and undertook a complete bare metal rebuild. He made
substantial changes, including changing the colour from black to
yellow, completely redesigning the interior, adding a wing and 90 Si
tail lights, Maserati Shamal headlights, BMW M3 mirrors, 9x17 and
13x17 wheels, etc. He installed a 351 Cleveland and a ZF, so it
became driveable for the first time.

The car may not be to everyone's taste, but there is no doubt a lot
of work was lavished on it and that Mr. Weber takes great pride in
it. You have to admire him for having salvaged a unique piece of
DeTomaso history which otherwise would have been lost.
