This is great info, did your costs include removal of the engine and
installation back into the car? Also did it include tuning?
  Mike, MD and Art. Thanks

That is almost identical to what my 383 stroker is costing me now. Mine is
a forged crank, H beam rods, custom forged 10.0:1 pistons, custom hydraulic
roller cam, roller rockers on a set of fully freshened quench heads with
one-piece stainless valves with 3 angle grind, new hardened seats and valve
guides in a virgin 351 block bored to .020. I didn't do any porting or
manifold work, but I did have the Holley 670 rebuilt to add a second idle
circuit, larger accelerator pump, new squirters and deburred throats (it's
now actually closer to a 700 CFM). Stock Edelbrock Performer for now.
Perhaps more top end later when the budget recovers.
Should be ready next week. The whole thing will be just around $6K.

In 2004, I had a 377 stroker Cleveland built for $5858. As I recall, that
included an acid bath for the block. Some of the parts included a hydraulic
roller cam, roller rockers, an offset ground crank and custom pistons. I
would imagine you could find someone to do a basic overhaul for less than
half that price, and maybe even a quarter of that price?
