Note that LED's have only negligible resistance so need some sort of resistor in line with them so that they don't blow up. Something like a 2.2kohm will do.
  (They can actually explode in the same way as some hand grenades - though on a smaller scale)

I had bayonette type connectors in my car, if you have different
connectors... they have other type of LEDs that should fit!
