Lock-tite's fine product is meant for bushings and small lightly-loaded ball
bearings such as in throttle linkages. The forces going thru the rear uprights
are so high, likely such chemicals would quickly squeeze out from between the
ball bearing races and the carrier, leaving the bearing about as loose as
before. Peening a loose axle shaft to temporarily increase its OD doesn't last
either- the raised areas of steel quickly pound back down. Carroll Smith says
that Lock-tite bearing mount liquid is only for extremely temporary use at a
track, and a 'proper' fix- including machining- is called for as soon as the
event is over, never for long-term use!

Goose owners have a particular problem, since Goose rear axles are as soft as
in the Pantera, & their bearing carriers are cast aluminum. So the rear wheel
bearings really need to be installed in Geese by shrink-fitting, not
cold-pressing. It will only take a tiny amount of installed bearing looseness at
operating temp before the hard outer bearing race begins to thrash out considerable
clearance. In case of a measurably loose rear wheel bearing in a Goose,
boring the aluminum upright oversize for a bigger OD bearing (maybe with the
subsititution of a Pantera stub-axle & companion flange), boring & shrink-fitting a
hardened 7075-aluminum sleeve for an OEM size bearing or welding &
re-machining the upright are the repair options that come to mind. There are advantages
to our heavy Pantera cast-steel rear uprights! FWIW- J DeRyke
